FAQ KOZ-E Sleep
KOZ-E Sleep
Getting Started
Setting up your KOZ-E Sleep involves two key steps: attaching the mattress topper (video) and adding water for the first time (video). It's important to set up your KOZ-E Sleep 2-3 hours before bedtime to allow time for the "Priming" process, which involves filling the Active Grid with water. This process may take some time.
The KOZ-E Sleep mattress topper is designed for both sides to be sleepable. One side is made of cotton fabric, while the other side features cool mesh. Your choice depends on personal preference. For a better cooling effect, we recommend using the cool mesh side.
The Control unit will make a subtle humming sound while it is running. However, most of our customers have said that the noise does not bother them as it is similar to the sound of a floor fan.
The mattress topper holds 800ml of water when fully filled. It's normal to have to refill your device more frequently during the first few weeks after initial setup. This is because air bubbles need to be removed from the topper, and because the topper may stretch over time.

Finding the perfect sleep temperature involves considering various factors like location, season, and ambient temperature. Your body also plays a crucial role in determining the best temperature setting. If you tend to feel cold when sleeping, try a temperature between 25 and 28°C. If you're unsure or sleep comfortably, opt for a temperature between 22 and 25°C. If you know you feel hot when sleeping, consider a temperature between 12 and 22°C.
To determine the best temperature, select one within the recommended range and lay on the pad for 3 to 5 minutes to assess how it feels. When setting up your KOZ-E Sleep, it's advisable to avoid extreme temperatures initially. Be aware that it can take 7-10 days to find your preferred temperature settings.
The KOZ-E Sleep device can be placed near or under your bed or on a nearby nightstand. Ensure that it is placed on a flat surface close to a wall outlet. Leave a minimum of 2 inches of space between the mattress and the head/foot board for connector clearance.
Yes, KOZ-E Sleep fits most split and adjustable beds. Place the connector at the foot of the mattress and check for hose kinking if the foot of the bed is adjustable.
Hold down the Temperature (+) and Temperature (-) buttons simultaneously for less than 5 seconds to change the temperature units.
Yes, peak performance is influenced by ambient temperature, humidity, and individual body mass.
Troubleshooting
Check the electrical outlet, ensure the cable is properly connected to both the outlet and the device. If a flashing water drop light appears, there might be insufficient water in the device.
A14: This issue may be caused by air bubbles, debris, or misconnections. Follow the following steps to resolve the issue:
- Disconnect the hose from the unit and then reconnect it. Repeat this process several times.
- Disconnect the hose from the pad and run through the same process of disconnecting and reconnecting it to the pad.
- Remove the reservoir from the unit and place it back, ensuring that you line up the stem of the reservoir with the valve at the bottom of the reservoir socket. You'll also want to confirm that you press the reservoir down all the way.
- Remove the power cord, either from the back of the unit or from the power outlet, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.
If after completing these steps you find that the issue persists, please try completing steps 1 and 2 again, but this time using the drain tool. We suggest bringing the unit over to a sink or tub and either taking the pad off of your bed before priming the connector, or placing some kind of container close to the device to catch the water that will come out while completing this process.
If the issue still persists there might be an obstruction that can't be removed or the system might be malfunctioning. In that case you'll want to contact our Technical Support team.
If your KOZ-E Sleep is leaking, first check if the reservoir cap is securely fastened onto the reservoir. When you place the reservoir into the "seat" of the unit, ensure it closes smoothly. If it does not, remove the reservoir and reseat it so that "KOZ-E Sleep" reads from left to right, and you feel the unit slightly drop into place. Unplug the tubing that connects to both the unit and the pad from both ends, and then reconnect them. You should hear an audible "click."
To drain the KOZ-E Sleep, follow these steps:
- Lift the removable reservoir and pour the water into a sink. Dry any remaining water inside the reservoir with a towel.
- Unplug the hoses from the back of the KOZ-E device.
- Carry the device over to a sink or a bin.
- Tilt the unit backward, then insert the drain key that was provided with the original packaging.
- Water in the internal tubing will start to flow out.
To drain the water from the mattress topper, follow these steps:
- Remove the pad from the bed and take it to the sink, tub, or shower.
- Elevate the end opposite the connection point to allow gravity to assist in draining.
- Insert the drain key and hold it in place while draining the pad. Drain as much as you can.
Drain both the KOZ-E Sleep device and mattress topper before packing. Protect the control unit in a box, fold the mattress topper and place it in a bag away from sharp objects. Store in a room temperature environment.
Caring for Your KOZ-E Sleep
The topper should be washed seasonally or when soiled. Detach the connecting hose and drain the water before washing it in a front or top-load washer. For further details, refer to our cleaning instructions. There you will learn about appropriately maintaining the Sleep System and mattress topper.
Initial high water usage is normal and may be attributed to air bubbles working their way out of the system. If this continues after a month, especially in high temperatures, consider removing the topper and contacting Support.

The science behind warm sleepers
Research has shown that warm sleepers may have a higher basal body temperature, meaning they naturally prefer environments that match their body tendencies. This preference may affect how quickly they enter REM sleep and how well they stay asleep through the night.
How heat affects REM sleep
Warmth can speed up the time to fall asleep, but maintaining too high a temperature can infringe on REM sleep, reducing its restorative effects and possibly causing mid-night awakenings.
The science behind cool sleepers
For cool sleepers, the preference for a colder sleep environment aligns with the natural drop in body temperature. This alignment can improve the quality of deep sleep and overall sleep architecture.
The link between cool temperatures and deep sleep
Studies show that cooler sleep conditions are conducive to deep sleep. They help the body maintain a state conducive to the phases of sleep that are most beneficial for physical recovery and memory consolidation.
The importance of sleep environment for quality of rest
The quality of your sleep is determined not only by the number of hours you sleep, but also greatly influenced by your sleep environment. A critical factor that is often overlooked is room temperature. Whether you prefer a warm or cool sleep environment, this can significantly affect your sleep quality, the duration of your sleep and even your health.
Warm sleep preferences: benefits and challenges
For those who prefer warm sleep, the benefits include a sense of coziness and security, which can be comforting and help you fall asleep faster. However, there are also challenges. Sleeping in a warm environment can lead to overheating, which can disrupt sleep and reduce the amount of REM sleep.
Preferences for cool sleep: benefits and challenges
On the other hand, cool sleepers often find that a lower room temperature helps lower their core temperature, which can speed sleep and promote more deep sleep cycles. Challenges include maintaining a cool environment throughout the night, which can be difficult during warmer months or in poorly ventilated rooms.
How body temperature regulates during sleep
Understanding how your body regulates temperature during sleep is essential. During sleep, your body's internal thermostat drops, reaching its lowest point early in the morning. This natural cooling is essential for achieving deeper, more restorative sleep stages.
